READ, Neville Charles
Neville Charles Read was born at Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk on 22 March 1907, son of George Read (8 August 1880-1947), innkeeper & brewer's clerk, and his wife Gertrude Arabella née Kerridge (7 July 1877-1949), who married at Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire in 1903. In 1911, Neville was a 4-year-old, living at 68 Hospital Road, Bury St Edmund's with his parents, 30-year-old George and 32-year-old Gertrude with a lodger, 22-year-old Alec Kerridge. Neville exhibited at the Ipswich Art Club from 83 Hatfield Road, Ipswich in 1937, two oils 'A Berkshire Mill' and 'Dancing Shadows'. In 1939, a house decorative painter, living at Six Bells Public House, Hall Road, Lavenham, Suffolk with his parents and his sister Inez W Read [Aldous] (8 June 1914-1953). He emigrated to Australia in 1950 when 'a draughtsman' of 26 Dudley Road, Clacton-on-Sea, Essex but Neville Charles Read died at 22 Carrington Road, West Mersea, Essex on 24 September 1978.
