D'EYE, Edward Henry Rust
Edward Henry Rust later D'Eye, was born at Thrandeston, Suffolk around 1834, and baptised at Drinkstone, Suffolk on 25 April 1835, son of Revd Edgar Rust (1 March 1795-27 November 1852), rector of Drinkstone, Suffolk 1824-1852, and his wife Ann Dioness née D'Eye (1799-17 May 1849), daughter of Reverend Nathaniel D'Eye and Ann Halfhyde née Green, who married at Thrandeston on 26 July 1821. On 24 July 1852, his father Edgar assumed the name of Rust-D'Eye but died at Abbot's Hall, Stowmarket on 27 November the same year. Edward, who was a major in the Suffolk Artillery Corps, married at Woodbridge, Suffolk in 1882, Eliza Ellen Taylor. As Major E. H. R. D'Eye he exhibited from Woodbridge at the Woodbridge Industrial & Art Exhibition at the Lecture Hall, Woodbridge in April 1883, four oil paintings 'Cattle', two 'Landscapes' and another untitled and in 1887, from Shingle Street, Alderton near Woodbridge, three oil paintings. In September 1888, he was declared bankrupt owing to a claim as a trustee over the management of the 2,000-acre Bedingfield Estate with his deficiency of £1,094. In 1891, a 56-year-old, living at Thoroughfare, Woodbridge with his 32-year-old wife Eliza, and three children, Edward Carfrey Rust (1884-1964), Winifred Gertrude 5 and Bertie Frederick (1890-1891), and they went on to have three more children. Edward Henry Rust D'Eye died at Woodbridge on 2 January 1907, aged 72, leaving a widow who, in 1911, was living at 41 Bredfield Street, Woodbridge, Suffolk with their two daughters and a son.
