Dave Pescod

David Pattison W. Pescod was born at Muswell Hill, London in May 1951, son of Alfred James Pescod (8 February 1909-16 July 1980) and his wife Nancy Chattaway née Smith (12 January 1914-25 September 2000), who married at Edmonton, London in 1937. About 1961 they moved to Buckinghamshire and Dave attended the local grammar school where he studied art for his GCSE. Dave, as he is known, then studied Graphic Design at Hornsey College of Art followed by Fine Art at the Royal College of Art. In the late 1980s he succeeded Jan Pawlowicz at the Ipswich School of Art, then in High Street, Ipswich as tutor in graphic design and then moved across to teach higher level courses. Now working on his own account in mixed media constructions, abstract and semi-abstract paintings in acrylic, collagraph & other mono prints. His work is inspired by music, place, and influences, often worked in collage before painting. His paintings are layered and explore the relationship between abstraction and form. He also cross refers ideas, enjoying the opportunity to use spontaneity in the visual form, though some pieces such as his wireworks use specific designed ideas to challenge reality. Dave is a Member of Cambridge Open Studios and has exhibited at Forefront Gallery Ipswich; Eastern Open Exhibition, Kings Lynn; Cambridge Open, ARB Cambridge University; Royal Academy Summer exhibition and elsewhere.
