STEWART-CLARK, Zarina
Zarina Gabrielle Stewart-Clark was born in Vienna, Austria on 29 June 1965, daughter and youngest of the five children of Sir John Stewart-Clark (17 September 1929-), 3rd Bt. and Jonkvrouwe Lydia Frederika Loudon (29 September 1936-), daughter of James Willem Loudon (1904-1973), who married on 16 July 1958. Zarina completed a Foundation course in Art at the Kensington and Chelsea College of Art and over the years she has studied the works of Constable, Lanyon, Paul Nash and the early 17th Century Dutch Romantic landscape painters. She married Richard Gerard Hamlyn Noel and their son was born in 2007. A landscape painter whose work depicts the changing light and landscape along Scotland's West Coast and the Suffolk Coast with her early work of watercolours depicting flowers was the subject of her first solo exhibition in London in 2001. Working with traditional methods using egg tempera and oils, her paintings explore the poetry and drama of shifting skies and the fall of light and darkness within the landscape. Based in Suffolk, her travels often lead her to solitary shores and coasts, to study the effects of light on land, sea and sky. She exhibited at the Royal Academy and has also shown at Nadia Waterfield Fine Art; Panter & Hall Scottish Show; Royal Scottish Academy Open Exhibition; Morningside Gallery, Edinburgh; Nadia Waterfield Fine Art; Panter & Hall Scottish Show; The Jerram Gallery; The Hampshire Art Fair; Medici Gallery and elsewhere.
