McKENNA, Diana

Diana Anne McKenna has loved drawing and working with materials since early childhood. She studied at Cambridge Art School and gained her degree from Camberwell School of Arts & Crafts and went on to a Post Graduate Art Teacher Certificate at Brighton School of Art. Diana then went on to work for about twenty years as a Lecturer in art and design at the Anglia Ruskin University Cambridge, in the Art Departments of Cambridge Regional Collage and the Long Road Sixth form College. Diana works from observation and draws inspiration from the natural world and travelling overseas having been fortunate to be able to visit many places in her travels, including the Amazon jungle in Peru, the Atacama Desert in Chile, the Great Barrier reef in Australia and the Sinai desert in Egypt. She works with a variety of materials and techniques including working on linocuts and collagraphs of native and overseas birds. Diana has worked in many different areas of the art world including as an examiner for art and design at 'O' and 'A' levels, printed textile designer, photographic picture researcher, model maker for advertising and architects, and a painter of fairground animals such as steam engine galloping horses and cockerels. She has a studio at Bungay in Suffolk, but her paintings can be seen at galleries and exhibitions including with the Black Dog Arts Group and with the Harleston and Waveney Art Trail from 24 Beccles Road, Bungay, Suffolk.
