Orwell Decorative and Fine Arts Society (ODFAS) was founded in 1999 and is active in the Ipswich area with around 100 members. The aim of the society is to encourage and promote knowledge and interest in all aspects of the Fine Arts, in this they follow the goals of The Arts Society, the operating name of NADFAS, of whom they are a Member Society. In 2017 Orwell Decorative and Fine Arts Society became a Charitable Incorporated Organisation with the Registered Charity Number of 1174135. Excepting July, August and January, the society holds monthly afternoon members meetings nine times a year in which they host an illustrated lecture. The society meets at Tower Hall, Broadlands Way, Rushmere St Andrew IP4 5SU and lecture topics are selected to provide as wide a variety as possible including ceramics, glass, paintings, mosaics, sculpture, architecture, textiles, jewellery, furniture, garden design, music, literature, theatre and more with the lectures being delivered by well-known and renowned experts. The society also organises regular day trips to notable places of interest including museums, galleries, houses, and gardens in East Anglia. On 7 June 2023, a resolution was passed that the Society should be wound up and dissolved.
