WARRINGTON SCHOOL OF ART

? - ?

Warrington Mechanics' Institution declined for want of funds and working-class support but in 1850 out of it grew Warrington School of Art. Warrington developed other bodies serving adult education including in 1858 a People's College and in 1878 a School of Science. Under the Technical Instruction Acts, in 1891 Warrington established the Warrington Technical Institute which provided successful practical classes in commercial, scientific, domestic, and manual subjects and prepared students for the examinations of the Union of Lancashire and Cheshire Insititute's, The Society of Arts, and the Science and Art Department. In 1893 The Institute incorporated the School of Art and in the following year the Continuation School which had grown out of the People's College.
