Bankside Gallery at 48 Hopton Street, London was opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1980 and is a registered educational charity. The gallery is home to the Royal Watercolour Society (RWS) and Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE) on the Southbank of the river Thames close to Blackfriars Bridge and almost next to the Tate Modern. They have a programme of exhibitions, workshops, talks and events celebrating the best in contemporary water-based media and original prints, championing the work of both new and established artists.
