TICKNER, Kate Elizabeth

1862 - 1925

Kate Elizabeth Tickner was born at Adelphi Place, Ipswich in 1862 and baptised at St Mary at Quay, Ipswich on 6 June 1862, daughter of William King Tickner (1836-23 May 1899), an accountant, and his wife Elizabeth née Baker, who was born at Nacton, Ipswich and married at Ipswich in 1859. In 1871, Kate was an 8-year-old, living at Christchurch Street, Ipswich with her parents, 34-year-old William and 30-year-old Elizabeth, with three siblings, William Windsor 10, Alice Mary 5 and Edith Maud 2, all born at Ipswich. By 1881 they had moved to 47 Key [Quay] Street, Ipswich with the addition of two more siblings, Blanche Mabel 9 and Leonard King 7. Kate exhibited at Ipswich Fine Art Club from 47 Key Street, Ipswich in 1883 'Vase'. She married at Ipswich in 1889, George Alfred Hake (8 October 1860-14 January 1941), who was born in Devon, and in 1891, a 28-year-old, living at Rothbury Terrace, Heaton, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland with her 30-year-old husband, George, a Lloyds ship & engineer surveyor, and their 1-year-old daughter Kate Isabella, they had two further children George Reginald born 1892 and Cyril Marriott born 1894, both born at 29 Rothbury Terrace, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Kate Elizabeth Hake, died at Erpingham, Norfolk in 1925 and her husband died at Chancellor Cottage, Holway Road, Sheringham, Norfolk on 14 January 1941, aged 80.
