VULLIAMY, Anna Marie
As Anna Marie Museur, she was born in Brussels in 1836, only daughter of Jean Baptista Museur of Brussels. Anna married at St Matthew's Church, Ipswich on 21 July 1864, Arthur Frederick Vulliamy (1838-20 March 1915), a solicitor of Ipswich, and they lived at Oakstead House, Spring Road, Ipswich where they were living in 1881, one of their thirteen children was Blanche Georgiana Vulliamy. Maria studied at the Ipswich School of Science and Art and in 1884 she won second prize for her 'Twenty Fac-similes of Drawings from the Royal Collection'. By 1891 they had moved to 20 Upper Brook Street, Ipswich and finally in 1911, 72-year Frederick and 74-year-old Anna were living at 12 Northgate Street, Ipswich with their son Bertram Lewis 27. Anna exhibited regularly at the Bury St Edmunds Fine Art Society including in 1882 an oil, 'A Smyrniote Lady' which was highly commended and was also a member of Ipswich Fine Art Club 1883-1888 but had exhibited from South Bank, Ipswich in 1881, two works, ‘Just Out’ and a portrait 'Mrs Arthur Vulliamy', in 1882 four works 'Miss Edith Mason', 'Malcolm Graeme', two watercolours 'Portia and Shylock' and 'Princess Tota and Prince Doro', in 1883 'Dressing Up', 'Edith', 'Miss Jane Vulliamy' and 'A Study', in 1884 for a second time 'A Smyrniote Lady', and 'The Children of T. Smythe, Esq.' and 'An Emigrant' and she continued to exhibit until 1887. As Mrs Vulliamy she also exhibited, from Ipswich, at the Woodbridge Industrial & Art Exhibition at the Lecture Hall, Woodbridge, Suffolk in 1883, two crayon drawings 'My First Game at Ball' and 'Fairy Tales' and an oil 'Study of a Head' and she exhibited at the Society of Women Artists in 1884 from South Bank, Ipswich. Her husband died at Ipswich on 20 March 1915, aged 76 and Anna Marie Vulliamy followed on 2 October 1926, aged 90.
