WALLER, Frances Caroline Kerr
As Frances Caroline Kerr Hollingsworth, she was born Monkstown, Cork, Ireland in 1833, youngest of the three daughters of Revd Arthur George Harpur Hollingsworth (1802-1859), vicar of Stowmarket, Suffolk from 1837, and his wife Margaret Selby de Montford (1802-1862). Frances married at Stowmarket on 5 April 1853, Charles Waller (1826-1867), an army officer, and were the parents of Lucy Waller and of Alice Waller. In 1871, Frances was a 37-year-old widow living at Cumberland House, St Helen's Street, Ipswich with three of her four daughters, Alice 12, Charlotte 9 and Hilda 8, all born at Montreal, Canada and in 1881 a 47-year-old living at 1 Clifton Villas, Anglesea Road, Ipswich with three daughters, Lucy 24 born Cornwall with 22-year-old Alice and 18-year-old Hilda Wilmot. Frances exhibited at Ipswich Fine Art Club 1883-1885 from 49 Woodbridge Road, Ipswich in 1883, two watercolours 'A Suffolk Malting' and 'On the Gipping' and four in 1884 'Beeston Abbey, Norfolk', 'Old China and Glass', 'Lower Sheringham, Norfolk' and another 'Old China and Glass' and although listed in 1885 did not exhibit. By 1891, she and her family had moved to Manor House, Leighton Road, Newton Longville, Buckinghamshire and in 1911 they were living at The Red House in the same town. Frances Caroline Kerr Waller died at Newton Longville, Buckinghamshire in 1924, aged 91.
