WARREN, Alfred
Alfred Warren was born at Hampstead, London in 1825, son of John Willing Warren (11 April 1770-23 March 1854), a barrister, and his wife Frances née [?] (1788-27 July 1867). In 1851, Alfred was a 25-year-old engineer, living with his parents, 80-year-old John and 63-year-old Frances, at 7 The Grove, St Pancras, London. Alfred then seems to have moved around the country and in 1871, a 45-year-old civil engineer, boarding at Lower Michaelstone, Glamorgan and ten years later was a 55-year-old annuitant, living at Westerfield Rectory, Ipswich with the rector Revd Cyprian Thomas Rust and his wife Elizabeth Maria née Warren. A member and exhibitor at the Ipswich Art Club 1883-1886 but in 1881 had already exhibited three watercolours from Westerfield Rectory 'Loch Venachar, Pethshire', 'The Entrance to Woodbridge' and 'Landscape near Loch Earn Heath, Perthshire', one in 1882 'The Tollgate, Westerfield', one in 1883 'Windmill at Tuddenham' and although listed 1884-1885 did not exhibit. Alfred Warren died at Southwark, London in 1885, aged 60, he was unmarried.
