BAKER, Edward

1833 - 1863

Edward Baker was baptised at St Gregory's Church, Sudbury, Suffolk on 8 October 1833, son of William Baker (1798-1854), an inn keeper and veterinary surgeon, and his wife Sarah and in 1833 were of Stour Street, Sudbury. In 1851 his father William, was a 52-year-old farmer of 580 acres at Brundon Hall, Sudbury with two of his daughters Ellen 16 and Emily 10, three indoor servants and employed twenty-six labourers. Edward was a landscape painter who exhibited at the British Institution two works in 1857 from Sudbury, Suffolk also showing at the Royal Academy the following year. Edward Baker died at Sudbury on 10 August 1863.
